Welcome to my web site- A little bit about me- I have always known what I wanted to be when I grew up. From the time I could thread a needle I was hand sewing scraps of fabric into tiny clothes. I created all of the interiors for my doll house-the curtains were ruffled, the bed skirt was pleated and there were even hand sewn pillow cases. For my 16th birthday I begged for a sewing machine. All I could make were scrunchies and elastic waist skirts, which I later learned I was doing wrong. My favorite Great Aunt Helene brought me fabric back from China-It the most beautiful red silk I had ever seen. I knew that I needed to put it away until I really learned to sew.
My husband Chris and I met in College (check out www.chrisfieldviolin.com) -- After graduation we moved to Colorado and I went back to school- I finally pulled out the silk. I used a combination of traditional and modern elements to create an inspired dress and jacket. I won several awards for that outfit and even helped to win best portfolio at graduation. Shortly after Graduation I started my first job at Jila Design in downtown Boulder. I started sewing on buttons and making button holes and over my 8 ½ year stay I worked my way up from buttons and pressing to sewing and Pattern making to Assistant designer and Custom cutter and finally Head designer of many collections including Bridal and ready to wear.
From 1999 to 2001 I taught Fashion Design at the Art Institute of Colorado-several of my students have become very successful in the industry. The student I am most proud of Is Amy Lopatin Dobrin check out her web site- www.bepresent.net .
In 2002 my friend Ella and I created Yo-Bag. Ella is a yoga instructor and I am a student. We both saw a need to use one's own mat during yoga practice. We wanted a place to put jewelry, money, water and the mat. With that in mind we created the Yo-Bag. So click on yoga Accessories and go to the Yo-Bag web site www.Yo-Bag.com. There you will find a great line of bags, T-shirt, eye pillows and comfortable workout or chill-out pants.
Now I have branched out on my own- I specialize in custom clothing-wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, handbags and cute tops. I also do expert alterations and tailoring (don't throw away those big shoulder suits I can fix them). The "Super Jeans Hem" is one of specialties, the hem that looks like the original. I hope that you enjoyed the pictures of some of my work and hopefully, it entices you to contact me and have something designed especially for YOU.
Have a great day-
Cheryl
